The Obedience classes offered by VVDOC are listed below. Additional classes may be offered, based on student interest and instructor availability. Visit our Class Schedule page<\/a> for a list of classes in the upcoming session.<\/p>\n

Our classes are six weeks long, and are taught by our volunteer Club members who own and train their own dogs. We use buckle or slip collars. We do not use any harsh training methods. We allow food, toys, or whatever it takes to motivate your dog.<\/p>\n

Puppy Class<\/h2>\n

For puppies 4 to 9 months, our Puppy class gets the little ones socialized and introduced to the basic skills of how to walk nicely on a lead, come when called, sit, and lie down.<\/p>\n

Basic Manners Class<\/h2>\n

Designed for dogs over the age of 9 months, in this class dogs learn what every good dog needs to know at home or in public, and how to be a good representative for your family.\u00a0 Exercises include how to walk nicely on a lead, sit, lie down, stay, come when called.<\/p>\n

Beginner Class<\/h2>\n

For dogs over the age 9 months, this class refines the exercises learned in the Basic Manners Class and adds distance.\u00a0 Also introduced are new concepts such as teaching your dog to wait at the door, go to its place, etc.\u00a0 Your dog must be able to successfully perform the exercises learned in the Basic Manners Class before enrolling in this class.\u00a0 The pre-requisites are:<\/p>\n
